Peace and Quiet

Wow this is the first night in a long time where I have had some peace and quiet, no husband, no children and nothing special to do. Its just me, myself and I. I honestly feel a little tired, but all you mothers and wives out there no exactly what I am about to say. Sometime no matter how tired you feel this kinda of a night is totally worth it. You have time to do what you want to do. I am not trying to be a martyr but sometimes I feel so caught up in being a good wife and mother I completely forget myself. honestly I am lucky if I look in the mirror some days.

You know life is ironic, I used to be so arrogant and say, "how do those women let themselves look like that"
"There is no way I will ever let myself go that much" Well God sure did have a little lesson to teach me. Lets just say everything is not where its supposed to be anymore. I know I should put forth more effort but some days I just feel like I can either slap some makeup on and put on a push up bra  and look nice for my husband or I can sit on the couch in my pajamas and watch desperate housewives. Ummm well lets see. After a day of chasing a toddler around and cooking 3 meals looking good is pretty low on the totem pole. Catch my drift?

Don't get me wrong, I totally love taking care of my family, but I struggle finding the line between love and stupidity. What I am saying is take some time to take care of you. In balance. I also have people in my life who have aired on the side of being to concerned for themselves and neglectful to their responsibilities. So I tend to over compensate by trying to be too selfless. Which is not benefiting my family either, because I have to be able to have something to give. My well is dry tonight.... hopefully God will restore it tomorrow

Have a Goodnight, God Bless You!.

Oopsies

I want to apologize to everyone who was hoping for a picture of my tres leches cake. It was to delicious, we ate it all in less than 24 hours. Its alot of work or I would totally whip one up again today and besides I am fresh out of evaporated milk. I know its not apart of any diet plan but its soooo good. The key to this cake its to fold your egg whites it to the batter so if we become spongy like to absorb the tres leches aka 3 milks!! I left out the rum but I am sure it will only add to the flavor, its tasty without it though.

My trip

I am getting so excited for my trip to Dushanbe, Tajikistan!! I keep hearing about how amazing the food is over there. There is some thing called a tandoor, its like a oven in the ground. Here a picture to give you an idea.

They just slap the bread or pastry on the side and it sticks. There is a fire below that cooking everything.

Yummy!!! I cook tajik food alot, but nothing is going to taste as good as fresh bread over an open flame!!! Wow I am making myself hungry. LOL. One of my other favorite dishes from Tajikistan which I will be featuring before I go, is called Osh

This picture doesn't do it justice, really its yummy. Its a combination of rice onions carrots and spices. I will give a tutorial on how to make this wonderful tajik dish you will love.

Now some thing that I have come to find hilarious about Tajikistan.

English words are often different tajik words. For example this bottle of detergent most americans would not find cleanly.

Tajikistan

I will be going to Tajikistan soon for the first time in April. I am so excited to learn so much more food to bring back and share with everyone. I will be there till August. So you will not hear from me for a long while but, I will be back bring lots on new things to blog about I am sure!!!

Here is a map and a little info on Tajikistan if you have never heard of it.

I will be staying in the capital city Dushanbe. I will be leaving my husband behind and meeting my mother in law for the very first time with my sister in law and our kids. Yay 2 toddlers on a plane for about 14 hours!!! Ahh if you are a mother you can understand what I am talking about. Tajikistan is surrounded by mountains. It looks beautiful.

This next pic is a sky view of Dushanbe.

Dushanbe is the capital of the central Asian republic of Tajikistan. The city is located on the lower slopes of the Hissar mountains above Kafirnigan Valley in western Tajikistan. Dushanbe is a clean, European-style city that has recovered from the damage caused by civil war in the 1990s into a booming capital and cultural center. Little known by tourism, Dushanbe has a good infrastructure, making it a good base for excursion into Tajikistan’s beautiful mountain areas. The city is inhabited mainly by Tajik people, but there are also many minority groups living in Dushanbe, including Uzbeks and Russians. Tajik is the official language, but Russian is spoken widely.
